Colliding Worlds (2020)

For Percussion Ensemble (14 players)

This new work was commissioned by West Chester University Percussion Ensemble and will be premiered in April of 2020. The piece is based around the juxtaposition and ultimate collision of two choirs of percussion instruments: one non-pitched choir (assorted shakers, brake drums, ratchet, cymbals, temple blocks, snare drum, floor tom, and bass drum), and one pitched choir (glockenspiel, xylophone, two vibraphones, four marimbas, and timpani). A dynamic snare drum and virtuosic marimba serve jointly as the guiding voice, leading the audience through a dazzling landscape of shifting textures and timbres.
